Leaders in Integrated Marine Science

INSPIRE expanded its international offering with a permanent operational base in Aberdeen. The move brings its integrated marine environmental science capability directly into Europe’s busiest offshore energy hub and enables rapid mobilisation across Scotland, the wider UK and Europe.

INSPIRE leads the Venterra Group’s global Environmental Service Line. We provide global environmental assessments and ecological surveys for renewables, specializing in benthic habitats, fisheries, marine mammals, acoustics, and more. We set U.S. standards for benthic habitat assessments and support biodiversity and nature-based design in offshore wind projects worldwide.

In July 2022, INSPIRE Environmental was acquired by the Venterra Group, an Offshore Wind Services group with a mission to support the development of offshore wind globally from inception to decommissioning. Venterra is facilitating the transition to renewable energy and our partnership drives growth and opportunity across all sectors of the business.

In 2018, INSPIRE’s headquarters moved to the Innovate Newport building in the heart of Newport, Rhode Island. Located in a beautifully restored school building, this co-working space and private office provider endeavors to support the Greater Newport region as a driving ecosystem for business enablement and innovation. INSPIRE Environmental’s offices occupy the third floor of the building with views across the neighborhood.

In the pursuant years, INSPIRE engaged in multiple seafloor assessments with the largest inventory of Sediment Profile Image (SPI) cameras in the world, as well as more experience in data interpretation than any other provider. We started with work in five business segments: Seafood Waste, Dredged Material Management, Offshore Oil and Gas, Contaminated Sediments and Offshore Wind (OSW). At inception, Seafood Waste and Dredged Material Management were our primary business segments, but we soon expanded into Oil and Gas, and then shifted to OSW. Work in the offshore wind industry facilitated INSPIRE’s expansion from a purely seafloor focus to other ocean science areas, including fisheries and marine acoustics.

The union of two established environmental consulting firms: CoastalVision and Germano & Associates. The name, logo, and tagline for the new venture were crowd-sourced by prospective employees.
