Effective marine science communication boosts public engagement and approval for marine infrastructure projects.
Our scientists work closely with developers to minimize impacts on marine resources. We play a crucial role in public engagement by clearly explaining and visualizing our work for regulatory agencies and the public. This includes detailed reports, data visualizations, public meetings, and open houses, ensuring transparency and understanding throughout permitting and the NEPA process.
We use a variety of tools to engage the public, including interactive web-based maps for independent data exploration, curated story maps for non-technical audiences, videos for websites and social media, and training sessions to build community capacity and understanding of the science behind project decisions.
